1917 4ft 6" British Cramer London Burr Walnut Baby Grand with Cabriole Legs

A very neat and compact Burr Walnut Baby Grand, with shapely cabriole legs and nicely designed pedal section. The original ivory keys are in perfect condition, indicitive of being kept in a steady caring climate, and the casing is French Polished by hand, followed by antique waxing. The original soundboard has good crown and radiates a large volume of sound over a wide frequency range for such a small Baby grand, again due to being kept in good climate for the last one hundred years. Cramer were reknowned for making quality soundboards and bridges.

The tone is mellow and rounded and the keys are balanced well with lead weights. The instrument had its hammer heads replaced with new ones two years ago and have no wear at all. The action is like new and is recently regulated. Previously the action felts and keybed bushings were replaced with new ones. Most Cramers were mahogany, so this piano is a bit more special with its Burr Walnut case and cabriole legs, with no castor wheels underneath them. The design is beautiful and is curved all round, with a wide back that increases the size of the soundboard generating more presence that most pianos of its size. The keys are responsive and the mellow tone would suit a classical player more than a jazz player. Ideal for all grades and ready to play.
