John Brinsmead

John Brinsmead Model 1 Overstrung Upright Piano (2017 Restoration)

1931-1940 John Brinsmead overstrung upright piano with newly rebuilt ebony casing and reconditioned underdamper internals. A tall instrument, similar in size to a Yamaha U3, with large soundboard, long strings, renewed brass trimmings, new name decal on fall board, original buffed ivory keys, regulated and reconditioned action and tuned to Concert Pitch. The tone is full, fat, rounded and pure, with a particularly strong and potent bass register. Medium responsive touch, weighted keys, even depth of tone through the range and ideal for all levels of player, from beginner to advanced. The case was rebuilt and polished in the last month and castors wheels are replaced. The piano looks like new and is built for a lifetime of play.

History: John Brinsmead, born in Devon in 1814, established himself in London as a piano maker in 1836. In 1861 his sons John and Edgar joined him and the firm became John Brinsmead and Sons in 1870. Brinsmead are considered to be one of the best built pianos in the world, using only the very finest woods and components and built with great skill and craftsmanship.
