    Ernst Kaps German Overstung Concert Upright

Originally owned by the Italian Ambassador to Ireland (Came out of the Italian Embassy in Lucan, Dublin) Before that it resided in Napoli, Italy and was tuned by Giovanni Napolean.

A large and powerful overstrung piano by one of the most respected German makers of all time, Ernst Kaps, purveyor of the Kingdom of Saxony. Kaps were very expensive to purchase a century ago and were ranked on equal par to the likes of Steinway and Bluthner. They have a responsive touch, perfectly balanced ivory keys, very long strings, huge soundboard, stable pitch, tight tuning pins, full cast iron frame, internal underdaming, full and rounded tone with a fat and potent bass register, even depth of tone throughout the range, and tremendous volume and presence when required. This Ernsts Kaps is previously rebuilt, perhaps in the 1980's, and the hammers, tapes and felts were replaced, so the action is in perfect condition. This week new bushings were installed and the piano is great to play, ideal for the beginner or well seasoned professional. The casing is original, un-restored, with some minor wear and woodworm holes. There is no woodworm in the piano, as we have completely checked it over prior to servicing, it's long gone many years ago. Overall the case is in good condition, with no cracks or issues. The brass is refinished, new nameboard felt, and partial spring replacement. Their sound is superior to a brand new piano due to the types of woods used and the craftsmanship of their manufacturer.
